This programme explores Bologna’s unique musical landscape through sonatas, ricercatas, and keyboard works by composers connected to the city, including Giovanni and Antonio Bononcini, Giovanni Battista degli Antoni, Giuseppe Torelli, Giuseppe Maria Buini, Pirro Albergati, and Agostino Tinazzoli.

Framed by the music of Arcangelo Corelli—whose Op. 5 became a landmark of the European violin repertoire—the programme highlights the dialogue between improvisation, invention, and expressive rhetoric that defined the Bolognese style.

Prepared during Ensemble Nocturnalia’s artistic residency at the Festival de Torroella de Montgrí, this programme celebrates the trio sonata as one of the Baroque’s most inventive and communicative genres.
